I’m pretty inspired after a week at Omega Institute in August with Bobby McFerrin, Rhiannon and the gang, where along with all the great circle singing, I was invited to facilitate an evening of  sound healing for everyone. It was an amazing experience. I feel so lucky to have been introduced to this community of singers and improvisers, where heart-felt connection through music really is the point. This is the vibe I’d like to grow at SongRise. It’s what I first experienced at Bobby’s event at Grace Cathedral in 1992 and what inspired me to bring the form to Vancouver so many years ago.

Circle Singing is a form that is very dear to my heart. To be able to create music in the moment and get a group of strangers singing instantly, all resonating with the same harmonic pulse, the same heart beat. Pulling music out of the ether and transmitting it so we all go on the ride together. Doing it with such masters of the art–Bobby, Rhiannon, Joey Blake, David Worm, Judi Vinar and 160 singers from all over the world– is pretty awe-inspiring.
